How to get to the Penobscot Outdoor Center Campground
in Maine

From I-95, get off on Exit 244. Take Route 157 west through Millinocket, then follow the signs to Baxter State Park. The Penobscot Outdoor Center is 15 miles from Millinocket, 5 miles past the North Woods Trading Post, just 2 miles shy of the south entrance to Baxter State Park.

The entrance to the Penobscot Outdoor Center is located 100 yards before the famous "Pockwockamus Rock". The rock was painted by Conservation Camp kids, and is one of the most popular spots for viewing Mount Katahdin.
